Hurtsbad Knockouts proudly present our very first installment of the super smoking gorgeous Nicole Craner's fight picks at Hurtsbad MMA.

 

This dime diva has graced us all with her appearance and more importantly her picks for this weekend’s mega triple header UFC on FOX 2. This event will feature an undercard showcased on FOX affiliate Fuel TV. The stacked main event will run later in the evening on FOX.

 

Kicking off the main card triple header in Chi Town is a match between two lethal UFC middleweights. Former title contender Demian Maia will touch gloves with rising star Chris Weidman.

 

The Brazilian veteran Maia is a vicious submission specialist who trains with living legend Wanderlei Silva and he will be present the most dangerous and high level test of young Weidman's career. Maia has notable wins over Dan Miller, and another well-known fighter the infamous Chael Sonnen.

 

Weidman is a rising star who has yet to taste defeat in his career. He will be looking to keep the streak alive and rise to 8-0 with a victory over the submission wizard Maia. While his work is definitely cut out of him, Weidman is a fighter who can excel in all facets with a record reflecting knockout, submission, and decision victories.

 

Yet the one key here is Weidman is a late replacement as the main card needed some last minute shuffling due to an injury to Mark Munoz.

 

The official word from our Hurtsbad Knockout Nicole Craner is this will be a tough test for the rising star. Too tough in fact and she feels that Maia's experience and the time he had to prepare for this bout will give him the edge.

Up next is a matchup of two of the sport’s most notorious scrappers. Rarely do fighters come along who can garner the attention that guys like Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping get from fight fans. Even rarer is when two icons like that meet inside the cage.

 

With a rabid British fan base Michael Bisping is one of the UFC's most celebrated athletes. His cult like following has been earned by becoming the premier representative of his countrymen in the top organization in the world.

 

His aggressive style and confidence polarizes fight fans and it will be no different come Saturday night when he cages up with Chael Sonnen.

 

Sonnen is a relentless and tenacious wrestler and trash talker unlike this sport has ever seen. This bout with the British Bisping is a number one contender eliminator with the winner earning a shot at Anderson Silva. There is no mystery this is an opportunity that Sonnen covets above all else.

 

Sonnen is looking to put on another dominant performance and slam his fist on the table once and for all demanding the rematch with “The Spider” which he feels is long overdue.

 

So the story of the bout is high octane wrestling vs. top shelf kickboxing and enough pride and confidence to motivate any fight crowd. These guys may not be favorites of all fight fans, but they damn sure put their money where their mouths are.

 

While Miss Craner has tremendous respect for the abilities of both fighters she has to go with the cat from her neck of the woods. Hailing from Portland Oregon she is leaning towards Chael. Though she noted how impressed she was that Bisping has been working with Jake Shields on his grappling game. In her eyes though it won't be enough when the cage doors slam closed.

In the final bout of the night two of the UFC's top light heavyweight contenders will square off vying for possibly number one contender status in one of the sport’s most dynamic divisions. Former UFC light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans will face off with rising star Phil Davis.

 

Davis is trained out of Alliance MMA around some of the sport's top fighters and under some of the best game planners in the business. His undefeated status is well earned and he has made a reputation as a grinding and growing athlete in the division.

 

His test in Evans is one many men have faced but only one has passed. Davis is without a doubt a force in the division and he will have to prove his mettle against one of the men who has set the tone in recent memory.

 

Evans may be an old lion who has set the pace on more than one occasion but he will have to be in top form to remain one of the top contenders in the division. In his quest to face Jon Jones he must prove he is still the best out there and to do that he will have to knock a rising star down a notch or two.

 

This is an affair that will feature two premier wrestlers in the division and in the end it may come down to striking when all the smoke clears. In the wrestling department both men have strong pedigrees, but in the striking the advantage may lean towards the former champ.

 

Nicole feels Davis is a promising prospect who trains out of one of the premier camps in the business but when it all comes down she is going with the man they call “Suga”. If she is right this will set up a highly anticipated grudge match between Evans and current champ Jones.

 

Somewhere out there more than a few fight fans are hoping she is right because the prospect of Jones vs. Evans for the UFC light heavyweight strap makes us all salivate.
